Video (Question 1 and Question 3)

Q1. In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge terms and conventions of real media product?
My media product gives a concept of fight between good and evil which is a concept used frequently in the history of the horror genre and also in Vikram Bhatt films which were my references. Throughout the film the concept of dull lighting is used, in the scenes of rising action there is no electricity and dull night look lighting which is one of the major conventions. Throughout the film it is night time which is also a convention of horror genre that all the problems take place in the darkness of night. In starting of most of the horror films there are always clues given to the audience sometimes with the help of going into flash back which my product is also doing.  Use of a weapon like a big knife is also a very important convention which my product have similar. The typical horror convention of breaking of something like glass and turning off of the lights to drive the attention of the character in the film and to give a signal to the audience of something going wrong is also an important convention which is included in my product. The ever existing problem of curiosity in the character of the film of finding what is wrong around him even if he is very much scared and sure of being killed is one of the most common, historical and important convention which I followed. Use of screaming ladies to attract the character towards the problem and once again giving the audience feel of something abnormal going on is anther convention which my product has. The use of makeup and costume of the ghost in my film is also conventional and inspired by the two Vikram Bhatt films. The camera angles and shots which were used in my product were also conventional such as the point of view shots and reaction mid and close up shots of the character. Lastly the music which I used of Dales films is giving the exact conventional exaggerated feel of horror which gives a horror feel to the audience and makes some very normal actions done by the character such as opening a door for looking for someone who is not there horrifying.

Q3. What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?
Eros International is a big finance and distribution house. I do have some major reasons for choosing it as finance and distribution house of my film. Firstly it is a well known institute which not only features films inside India but also outside India and recent history tells us that it has supported Pakistani films such as BOL which was a big hit in India too with the support of the distribution of Eros. This is one of the reason because of which I took this institute as it supports products from other countries and also has a strong hold in the distribution of films in the international markets.
Now one reason which I think because of which Eros would be interested in my product because it is very much Bollywood oriented and all the conventions which are used fulfills the need of the mentality of “paisa vasool” or *money returned* in the audience in India. One strongest reason which I think is that this house has a history of supporting all types of genres of films and in my product there is a little aspect of romance included according to the liking of the audience and horror is a genre which keeps all the type of audience attracted and takes them to a new imaginative world which I think my product would be doing giving them high returns.
